Zhavon Shay Malone

Are you stressed, confused, or struggling with your relationships? Working with a counselor is one of the best ways to get to the bottom of your distress and start feeling better. I have worked with children and families for over 15 years to support their goals for healthier relationships. I help youth, couples, and families create safety in their relationships and improve their communication for mutual benefit. I help adults understand themselves better and reduce fear, anxiety, and depression. I am a student counselor, supervised by Dr. Kinga Gudor. I am in the process of earning my Ed.S. (a post-master’s degree) in Counseling and becoming a licensed counselor.

I hold a Bachelor’s in Psychology and a Master’s in Special Education. I am a Certified HOPE Couples Counselor and a Qualified Mental Health Professional for Children and Adults in the state of VA. My approach to counseling starts with listening. I want to hear about how you experience life. Then we co-create your therapeutic goals and determine what you want to get out of counseling. I use a variety of techniques including assessments, emotion and attachment- focused modalities, as well as cognitive-behavioral techniques to help you reach your goals.

My areas of focus include: ADHD, anxiety, ASD, learning and developmental disorders, ages 6+, spirituality, race/culture, and intimate and family relationships. I hope to have the privilege of working with you!
