Courtney Howard, M.S., LCMHCA

Thank you for considering me as your new therapist! My name is Courtney Howard and I am a graduate of East Carolina University’s Master of Science in Counselor Education (Clinical) program and am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate in the state of North Carolina. My mission is to provide a safe space for you to explore, repair, and grow. I am excited and honored to begin this journey with you!

Through my four years of work with the National Suicide Prevention LifeLine and during my practicum and year-long clinical internship, I have gained experience working with the following:

Depression, Anxiety, Mood Disorders, Grief/Bereavement, Adjustment to Change, Relationship Issues, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Suicidal Ideation, Cancer Care Support, Illness (Chronic, Advanced, or Terminal), Caregiver Support, End-of-Life Concerns, Trauma, Chronic Stress, Existential Concerns, Parenting Issues, Career Issues, Low Self-Esteem, and Domestic Abuse.

I am also currently working towards my certification in Thanatology which will increase my working knowledge of death, dying, and bereavement and will enhance my work with those who struggle with grief and/or illness. I am committed to providing supportive care to these populations.

I offer individual and couples/family counseling through an integration of person-centered, psycho-social, cognitive-behavioral, and existential frameworks and seek to provide holistic treatment and care.

My overarching goal is to work with you as a “fellow traveler” and provide guidance and support while also empowering you to become your best self.

I tend to take an engaging yet non-directive stance in my work with clients. I enjoy infusing therapy with creative interventions, humor, and literature suggestions when applicable.

 I am currently accepting new clients 10 and older for online/virtual therapy.
